World Animal Day in the Buffalo Reserve

The World Animal Day has been celebrated every year since 1931 on 4th October, the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals. Legend has it that he not only understood the languages of the animals but he also talked with them. He claimed already at the beginning of the 13th century that we must love everything that surrounds us, no matter if it is alive or inanimate.

Adults can buy a discounted entrance fee on this day to the Reserve. A nature trail, a lookout tower, an exhibition on the natural heritage of Kis-Balaton and on the history of buffalo rearing, horse carriage tour possibility await visitors. No prior arrangement is needed.
