The Birdwatching Days are held in many European countries. The countries even participate in a contest, regarding the number of locations, participants and birds observed. Hungary has won several times or has had a very good ranking. The fish ponds at Miklósfa is a significant wet habitat in Zala county, an important nesting and migratory place for waterfowl, even if its primary function is a fish pond. Mallard, Grey Heron, Mute Swan are frequent, while the less common Purple Heron, Ferruginous Duck, White-tailed Eagle, Osprey may also occur.
